Chippewa Valley Eye Clinic (CVEC) has been providing full-service eye care to the Chippewa Valley for over 50 years. In 2019, their Eau Claire location suffered a devastating fire that caused over $4 million in damage, leaving the building and its contents a complete loss. The clinic staff quickly found temporary locations to continue care for their patients and began planning for a rebuild – just in time for COVID to hit and halt plans for a year and a half.

In October 2021, River Valley Architects (RVA) engaged the Atmosphere Eau Claire team to partner with them and the client to carry their vision for the building plans and overall aesthetic through to the furniture. The RVA design team collaborated with our designer to select furniture finishes that coordinated with and enhanced the building finishes.

The planning team at CVEC included leadership from all departments, who met regularly with Atmosphere to program and plan for their new spaces within the clinic. Atmosphere and the CVEC team built a strong relationship and had fun customizing their spaces, making selections within a curated palette of finishes to make each space unique while still tying into the overall theme.

As construction progressed, Atmosphere’s project manager joined Hoeft Builders, the general contractor, and CVEC for bi-weekly meetings at the construction site to stay updated on the project through completion.

Because of the rapport Atmosphere built with the client and their trust in our expertise, they approached us for assistance in accessorizing the building with artwork. We partnered with Hennes Art Company/North American Art & Mirror on an artwork plan for the clinic, which consisted of both two-dimensional prints and three-dimensional pieces created from a variety of materials. The client approached us again for assistance with window coverings and we partnered with local company HomeTech by Mosaic to put together a window shade plan. Choosing Atmosphere for these accessories ensured that they coordinated with the building and furniture finishes and flowed with the furniture selections and space plan.

The clinic completed their rebuild in the original location in March 2023, with about twice the square footage of the original space – providing more exam rooms and a larger updated space for their providers and optical services. Since then, Atmosphere has continued to work with the CVEC team on additional furniture orders and services. We’re proud to be a trusted vendor for Chippewa Valley Eye Clinic and look forward to continuing our partnership in the future.
