Wilson Replaces Interim CEO Tim Anderson
MINNEAPOLIS – Dec. 15, 2017 – The Omni Workspace Company (Omni) board of directors announced today that Carlene Wilson, current President of Atmosphere Commercial Interiors (Atmosphere), has been named CEO of the company effective today. As President and CEO of Atmosphere Commercial Interiors, Wilson will succeed Tim Anderson, who has been interim CEO since late 2016. Anderson will remain Chairman of the Board for Omni, the holding company of Atmosphere. With seven offices in four states, Atmosphere serves a vast client base that generates revenues of $200M as one of the world’s largest Steelcase dealers.
Anderson became interim CEO following a leadership reorganization, and focused on operational efficiencies and growth strategies. “We are grateful for Tim’s support as interim CEO,” said Jack Helms, CEO of Helms Capital and member of the board of directors. “Tim helped prepare the organization for the transition to new leadership and positioned Atmosphere for future growth.”
Wilson joined Atmosphere in September 2016 as National Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing and was promoted to President in May 2017. “Carlene will be President and CEO of Atmosphere and will continue to be an equity partner and member of the board of Omni. Tim, Jack and I are thrilled that Carlene is moving up to CEO at Atmosphere,” said Steve Sefton, President of Clearwater Equity Group and fellow board member.
Wilson was previously a co-owner of the Dallas-based Steelcase dealership, BKM Total Office of Texas, and served as Chair of the Steelcase Dealer Council. Prior to BKM, she held leadership positions with Steelcase as well as several other successful commercial furniture dealerships.
“The changes at Atmosphere have been nothing short of transformational. Carlene’s strategic vision and leadership have created an environment where a strong corporate culture, accountability and entrepreneurial spirit could flourish,” said Anderson.
Bold changes such as a new corporate purpose, redesigned WORKLABS, new sales disciplines, leadership philosophy, and a talent management program, have positioned Atmosphere Commercial Interiors to grow market share with all markets including national accounts.
“Sixty-five percent of children today are estimated to end up in a job that doesn’t yet exist. It is incredibly exciting to be a pioneer in the contract interiors industry, and provide guidance and solutions to organizations who are experiencing or planning for these changes. We understand the connection between people, purpose and place, so our goal is to create spaces that amplify organizational potential,” said Wilson. “I wanted to be part of a company where the possibilities were limitless, and a company that creates the same conditions for growth for its clients. Atmosphere is that company.”
