The New Mexico and Texas worklabs have an interesting background starting just 50 years ago.

Originally Business Environments, the company opened their doors in 1973 with just three employees: founder IB Hoover, his assistant Margo, and one delivery man named Matt. In their first year they earned $100,000 as an office equipment leasing company.

Just a year later, in 1974, IB wanted to grow beyond servicing office equipment, and decided to enter the office furniture industry. He figured every employee in a company needed a desk, credenza, chair, and filing cabinet. He wanted to represent the top quality of office furniture in the industry and quickly became a Steelcase Dealer in 1974. IB owned the company for 24 years until he retired in 1997 and sold the company to his sons Bruce and Scott.

Business Environments entered the flooring industry in the early 1980s when many furniture installations were experiencing delays due to flooring not being installed on time. This problem gave IB the idea to open a flooring division which has flourished throughout the years in the commercial sector as well as multi-family and polished concrete.

In 2022, Business Environments was acquired by Atmosphere Commercial Interiors, a like-minded company that holds the same values as the Hoover family and gives the company more resources to elevate to the next level.
